Vintage Omega Geneve 166.070 Blue Spider Dial 1971

Blue, da-ba-dee-da-ba-dazzling.

This Omega Genève (ref. 166.070), from 1971, features an absolutely gorgeous glossy blue dial. The glossy lacquer has cracked slightly over the years, creating a characteristic “spider” dial. The rich blue of the dial contrasts starkly with the bright blue second hand. Complementing the dial are the white indices and logo, that make the dial very readable. The choice made by Omega designers for stick indices also adds to the legibility of time.

Connected to the case is a blue leather strap, which offsets the blue-and-white dial with much understated class. The combination of calm and classy strap and colourful but slightly mysterious dial makes this Genève the perfect watch for your casual and formal adventures.

A stunning watch that’s all I can say. The glossy blue dial with surrounding white track is both rare and extremely attractive.  This 166.070 sports a 34.5mm case size. You’ll love wearing this watch and it certainly will not be a bad investment.

What we love:

-Amazing blue dial colour and amazing layout

-Rare configuration

What you should know:

-The watch was checked by one of our watchmakers, no service was deemed necessary

OMEGA Geneve

Omega started applying “Genève” to the dials of the dressy 30mm watches they produced in 1953. This was in honour of their 30mm calibre that set records at the Geneva Observatory. In 1967 the name began to be applied to models throughout Omega’s range, such as the Omega Dynamic, that were produced in larger volumes.
