For many, the Speedmaster 145.022-69 “straight writing” is their grail watch. Serviced and fully checked and original pieces become rarer these days. Luckily we are able to offer a 145.022-69 SW in great condition and with full service in april 2020. This piece was worn by an English classic car restorer that loved and cared for it, while also working with it. We bought the watch from his son through a mediator and ordered an extract from the archives to go with it. This is one of those pieces that you will not find when you are actively searching for it. This piece finds you when you are ready for it!
Make and model: Omega Speedmaster 145.022-69 Straight Writing
Diameter: 42 mm
Service: April 2020 (including spring replaced, new plexiglass with Omega logo)
Papers, box and any accessories: with official red Omega travel case, service invoice from April 2020, Forstner Komfit “JB” Mesh Watch Bracelet with Straight Ends (similar to what the astronauts wore over their spacesuit), Vintage Masters branded luxury black wooden watch box, Omega extract of the archives, VM dealer invoice and VM certificate of authenticity.
Condition: no major flaws, small spot at 53 minutes on the lug, the first owner has put his name on the inside of the soft iron cage. Upper Chrono pusher is a bit looser than the lower one but functions work perfectly. The Bezel is in good condition for its age and some small dents can be found on the caseback. The hands have likely been relumed earlier with SuperLuminova (they still glow). Overall an excellent example of Omega craftsmanship and history.
Inscriptions on the soft iron cage:
-Property of Durely Harford 26 may 1973
-D Harford 22/3/47
Movement type and caliber: 861 caliber, movement number starts with 31xx.xxxx and thus falls in the correct ranges
Ownership: We bought the watch (through a mediator) from the first owner’s son.
Furthermore: clean step dial, Omega logo in the plexiglass, original DNN bezel, unpolished case.
Pictures of the movement are of course available on request.
What we love:
-Rare and unique “straight writing” caseback
-Bezel, serial number, step dial and case are all period and model correct
-Fully serviced in april 2020 by a certified Omega watchmaker
