Description
While the 166.020 reference is commonly associated with Seamaster de Ville models, while this watch bears all characteristics, Omega’s practice of assigning different reference numbers for precious metal versions, especially those destined for specific markets like South America, suggests that this watch may bear a unique reference number not widely documented (like 366.021). Such variations were often produced in limited quantities, catering to regional preferences and economic conditions.
The watch’s 14k gold case and bracelet not only reflect the luxurious tastes of the time but also underscore Omega’s commitment to craftsmanship and quality. The diamond-set dial adds an extra layer of opulence, making it a standout piece among its contemporaries. Powered by the reliable Omega Caliber 565 automatic movement, known for its precision and durability, this Seamaster seamlessly combines aesthetic elegance with mechanical excellence.
In the context of Omega’s history, this watch represents more than just a timekeeping instrument; it embodies a narrative of personal success, regional market dynamics, and the brand’s adaptability to diverse consumer preferences. Its provenance, tied to a significant moment in the original owner’s life, adds a layer of sentimental value that enhances its appeal to collectors and enthusiasts alike.
What we love:
- Extremely rare solid 14k gold diamond dial indicated by the “om swiss made om” at the bottom of the dial, OM being Or Massif (solid gold in french)
- Beautiful solid 14k yellow gold case and bracelet
- First owner piece
What you should know:
- Unless otherwise stated, it is common for vintage watches to not come with box and papers. In the rare example that a watch does come with box and papers it will be mentioned in the description. All purchases come with a bespoke black wooden watch box and warranty card.
- Bracelet is long, and is not detachable so please communicate your wrist size if you intend to wear it often as it might be too large. The bracelet has a very little “crack” at the top. Not very visible (<1mm) and you don’t feel it when wearing.
